Borrowing From Other Libraries
IPPL cardholders can either request an item from another library to be delivered to Indian Prairie by using the SWAN catalog or pick up the item at the owning library.
Before you go to a library:
- Check SWAN to see which library owns the item.
- Call the owning library to check if the item is on shelf (see list of SWAN libraries).
- Verify that you can borrow the item with your Indian Prairie Library Card.
- Request that the item be set aside under your name.
If the item is not listed in SWAN, you can request staff to search other libraries for the item or suggest it for purchase.
* Note: We make every attempt to get the item you request within Illinois. If available from a library not in Illinois, upon your agreement there is a $5.00 minimum charge for each item requested. (7/1/09)
